Wednesday Worship Series: It is well with my soul

A little slice of worship within the blog world

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

~Romans 15:5-6 ESV, emphasis mine

ESCAPE:

By the time I hit Wednesday, I need a “pick me up” or something (besides caffeine) to stimulate my heart and mind. I need to refocus. I need to escape the stress and distractions of life. I need to slow down, stop doing, and simply be. Here is how I choose to do it:

LISTEN:

I encourage you to turn off the TV, the radio, and to put your cell phone on vibrate. Click on the YouTube video below and LISTEN. Take the next 3 minutes to simply worship Jesus Christ. Close your eyes, raise your hands, get on your knees, or continue to sit just as you are. Just be. Spend time in the presence of the One who died for YOU. He is so worthy.

It is well with my soul

Lyrics written by: Horatio Spafford (1873)

Artist: Tim Wildsmith, from the album “Come Out Clean”

Video by: BigSmallVillage

REFLECT:

Mr. Spafford wrote the following:

“Oh Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,

the clouds be rolled back as a scroll,

The trump shall resound and the LORD shall descend,

even so, it is well with my soul…”

Even though his life was full of tragedy and loss, Mr. Spafford kept an eternal perspective. He knew that there would be an end to his heartache. Whatever your lot, remember that Jesus will descend again. Eternity is coming. We shall see Him face to face.

Can you even imagine what that day will be like? It is well with my soul indeed!

EXPRESS:

Reflect on the moment “when your faith shall become sight.” What does this mean? How does thinking about this moment make you feel?

I sat at the computer and cried, this was so beautiful and just happens to be my favorite song. Thank you for reminding me that it’s all about Jesus and nothing else matters. What a day is coming, indeed!

    • Thank you Debbie for worshipping with me today. FYI-Debbie is my sweet mother-in-law! I think that it so cool that she joined us today! :) Am I blessed or what? Debbie, glad this song encouraged you. I love your heart for Jesus and for the Godly example you set for me, Chad, and the kids. Thank you.
